Kortney Jolley
Sophomore ~ Tennis
Kortney Jolley is having an
outstanding season for the girl’s tennis
team. She is 9 and 1 on the year, which is
the team’s best singles record, where she
has played in both the 3 and 4 singles
spots. Kortney has proven to be a tremendous
competitor, pulling out six of those wins
after she was behind in the match. She also
has a 3.65 grade point average and is
already taking honors classes as a
sophomore.

Nick Van Tassel
Senior ~ Tennis
Nick Van Tassel, a senior
and three year letterman, has been an anchor
for our number 2 doubles team. Playing with
Justin Petersen and Jack Knopp, he has a
record of 10-2 overall and 5-1 in league. In
just his third season of tennis, Nick has
become a very accomplished player. Nick and
Justin’s last win (1-1/2 hour, three set,
6-4, 6-1, 6-4) over an undeafeated team from
Forest
Grove was one of their more satisfying wins.
Nick has always put the team first and has
been an important part of our team’s success
this season. Nick is also a great
student, with a 3.5 GPA.

Courtney Reid
Senior ~ Softball Courtney Reid is a senior,
and Utility Player for the Cougars,
primarily at Short Stop. As the lead-off
hitter, Courtney puts pressure on the
defense with her exceptional speed. This
week she led off vs. Tigard with a triple,
and was the game-winning run. In a loss to
2007 State Champion Forest Grove, she led
off with a triple again and was the only run
scored. Courtney is a dedicated athlete with
a great attitude and drive. As a strong
student in the classroom, Courtney is headed
to college in the fall and plans to play
softball. |
Laurence Calcagno
Junior ~ Baseball A junior, Laurence Calcagno
is an outfielder for the Cougars who had a
great week offensively. Last Friday he got
two hits against Tualatin. On Tuesday he had
two hits and two r.b.i.s, and on Wednesday
against Forest Grove he went three for four
including a double. Laurence is a three
sport athlete and a model citizen on the CHS
campus. |

Travis
Sauvain
Senior ~ Boys Track
Travis Sauvain, a senior and captain on the
CHS Track & Field team, won three events at
the Tualatin meet and helped the boys to
their 2nd league win of the season. Travis
won the high jump and achieved a PR with a
jump of 6' 9". He also won the Triple Jump
with 40' 4", and the Long Jump with a score
of 19' 6 3/4". |
Laura Copenhagen
Junior ~ Girls Track Laura Copenhagen, a junior
with a 3.6 GPA, has been a very important
part of the Girls Track & Field teams' two
league wins this season. At our meet in
Tualatin, she won the 800M run, with a time
of 2:37.1. She also was a member of both 1st
place Relay Teams; the 4x100 with a time of
51.3, and the 4x400 with a time of 4:18.4. |

Danny Clifford
Junior ~ Baseball Danny is a junior and 3rd
baseman for the Cougars Varsity Baseball
team. He is an outstanding defensive third
baseman as well as being a top offensive
player. Over the past five games, Danny has
hit .481 with 8 R.B.I.'s. He is also an
outstanding leader and his hard work in the
off-season has paid off in getting Danny off
to a great start. Danny is also a 3.93 GPA
student and a model citizen.

Gracie Barstad
Senior ~ Softball Gracie, a senior infielder,
leads the team
in seven offensive categories after nine
pre-season games. She is a strong player for
the Cougars and is a good role model for her
teammates. Not only a wonderful leader on
the field, Gracie is strong in the classroom
with a 3.6 GPA for last trimester. She has
earned a full-ride scholarship to play
softball at Western Michigan University. Her
discipline and commitment is second to none.
